Commemorative inscription and emblem of Alexander VII in St. Peter's square
The emblem consists of six mountains and the eight pointed star with wings extending up to the Vatican coat of arms on the crest, a symbolism linked to pope Alexander VII, known as the "Montium custos" (The Guardian of the Hills). His personal coat of arms also included the tree of life.
