An excerpt of Jules Verne's story "Voyage au Centre de la Terre," in which Axel, Professor Lidenbrock's nephew, finds himself suddenly alone and lost after having strayed from the expeditionary group, and describes his experience in the depths of the Earth.
The passage is also available in other languages with follow-along text.
The background music, "Inner Earth," was especially composed for this passage.
These are the inking and final coloring stage of the background illustration.
The location in the drawing is fictional but it has been influenced by the Caves of Nerja in Andalusia, which I photographed years ago and used as reference to draw the variety of individual cave formations.
